******** THE CARDIFF REPORT HAS BEEN UPLOADED AND CAN BE FOUND ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THE "BREED IN CRISIS" PAGE.
In 2005 Legacy submitted samples of Dexter cattle with pedigrees showing NO introgression from the UK appendix registry established in the mid 1940's. These samples were evaluated with the other samples collected from UK herds.
Legacy was given a copy of the COMPLETE thesis based on this research which was never distributed. A portion of the research was condensed and published in scientific journals. Tim Bray has since given permission for the complete work to be distributed and Legacy now makes their copy available to those who might be interested. The document is being uploaded in PDF form and is over 250 pages in length which is a considerable download. Attention Dexter genotype registry participants. As a continuation of the Legacy mission to raise awareness of the rapid loss of traditional Dexter bloodlines and an ongoing effort to provide information necessary for breeders concerned with preserving these traditional Dexter cattle bloodlines the final step in the plans for the online pedigree registry have now been implemented and all Legacy registration numbers are changing with an additional alpha digit added to designate the registry division of your Dexter. It will take some time to complete the updates of each registration. Upon completion breeders FOR THE FIRST TIME will have readily available the information on the pedigree status of animals they intend to use for breeding.
The registry now provides search capabilities according to the following divisions.
LH Legacy Horned RARE- LESS THAN 50
TH Traditional Horned AT RISK
MH Modern Horned PROLIFIC
MP Modern Polled FAST TRACKING NUMBERS
